			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Giornata di turismo quella passata oggi per le vie di Cefalu&#8217;, dove sono approdato ieri notte con un po&#8217; di colleghi in attesa di partecipare al workshop del <a href="http://www.tech.plym.ac.uk/soc/research/ABC/value/">VALUE project</a> in programma per domani e mercoledi&#8217;. Come alloggio ci hanno sistemati al <a href="http://www.cefaluseapalace.it/CSP/IT/default.aspx">Cefalu&#8217; Sea Palace</a>, un bel 4-stelle sul lungomare della citta&#8217;, a pochi passi dal centro storico. Nel post di oggi mi limito a condividere con voi un po&#8217; di foto.</p>

<p>Infine d&#8217;obbligo una visita al <a href="http://www.museomandralisca.it/">Museo Mandralisca</a>, collezione privata dell&#8217;omonimo barone di Cefalu&#8217; passato a miglior vita alla vigilia dell&#8217;unita&#8217; d&#8217;Italia. Durante la mia incursione sono riuscito a scattare furtivamente una foto (senza flash, non preoccupatevi) al vaso greco raffigurante il &#8220;venditore di tonno&#8221;, uno dei pezzi pregiati della raccolta.</p>

<p>Il pronto intervento della guardia (che aveva vita facile a controllare la situazione, essendo il sottoscritto l&#8217;unico visitatore del museo) a ricordarmi che non era possibile scattare foto mi ha impedito di ritrarre altri oggetti. Ivi incluso lo splendido Antonello Da Messina ospitato in una sala apposita e che ripropongo qui di seguito con un&#8217;immagine rintracciata sul web.</p>

<p><i>The European Society for Artificial Intelligence in MEdicine (AIME), was established in 1986 with two main goals:</p>
<ol>
<li>to foster fundamental and applied research in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to medical care and medical research, and</li>
<li>to provide a forum for reporting significant results achieved at biennial conferences.</li>
</ol>
<p>A major activity of this society has been a series of international conferences, from Marseille (FR) in 1987 to Verona (IT) in 2009, held biennially over the last 22 years.</p>
<p>The AIME&#8217;2011 conference will be a unique opportunity to present and improve the international state of the art of AI in Medicine from perspectives of theory, methodology, and application. For this purpose, AIME&#8217;2011 will include invited lectures, full and short papers, <a href="http://www.aimedicine.info/aime11/tutorials_call.html">tutorials</a>, <a href="http://www.aimedicine.info/aime11/workshops_call.html">workshops</a>, and a <a href="http://www.aimedicine.info/aime11/doct_call_for_papers.html">doctoral consortium</a>. <p><b>Best paper awards honoring Mario Stefanelli and Marco Ramoni</b></p>
<p>To commemorate two outstanding researchers in our field who recently passed away, AIME will establish two awards.</p>
<p>Mario Stefanelli from the University of Pavia has been one of the founders of the AIME community, an inspiration to us all, and actively helped in advancing young researchers in our field. The best student paper will receive an award honoring Mario Stefanelli and his accomplishments.</p>
<p>Marco Ramoni has been an outstandingly respected faculty member at Harvard and advanced the biomedical informatics field. The best paper in bioinformatics will receive an award honoring Marco Ramoni and his accomplishments.</p>
<p><b>Submission of proposals for workshops and tutorials</b></p>
<p>As in previous AIME conferences, proposals for the organization of tutorials and satellite workshops are sought regarding any of the above topic areas.<br />

<p><b>Paper Submission</b></p>

<p>There are two categories of paper submission for the regular sessions:</p>

Il titolo corretto del convegno e&#8217; <a href="http://www.tech.plym.ac.uk/SoCCE/CRNS/SCL2010/">SCL2010</a>, dove le lettere S, C ed L stanno esattamente ad indicare i tre elementi di cui sopra (se vi state chiedendo il perche&#8217; della discrepanza con il logo riportato qui sotto, sappiate che siete in due).</p>

<p>L&#8217;Associazione Italiana per l&#8217;Intelligenza Artificiale mette a disposizione contributi economici per la parziale copertura di spese di viaggio, vitto e alloggio per la partecipazione di studenti all&#8217;evento</p>
<p><b>11esimo Convegno dell&#8217;Associazione Italiana per l&#8217;Intelligenza Artificiale</b></p>
<p>I candidati dovranno possedere i seguenti requisiti alla data di sottomissione della domanda:</p>
<ul>
<li>essere regolarmente iscritti ad un corso di laurea triennale/specialistica, ad un corso dottorato, oppure essere neolaureati frequentatori;</li>
<li>essere soci AI*IA per il 2010;</li>
<li>possedere un&#8217;adeguata conoscenza della lingua inglese.</li>
</ul>
<p>I candidati devono inviare al Dott. Fabrizio Riguzzi (tramite l&#8217;indirizzo di posta <a href="mailto:fabrizio.riguzzi@unife.it">fabrizio.riguzzi@unife.it</a>) una domanda di contributo ** entro l&#8217;1 novembre 2010 **</p>
<p>La domanda di partecipazione dovrà includere i dati anagrafici, il numero telefonico e l&#8217;indirizzo di posta elettronica del richiedente, e dovrà obbligatoriamente avere i seguenti allegati:</p>
<ul>
<li>il curriculum vitae del richiedente della lunghezza massima di una pagina A4 (500 parole). Gli studenti di laurea triennale/specialistica dovrebbero includere la media riportata negli esami sostenuti alla data di presentazione della domanda; i neolaureati dovrebbero includere il voto di laurea;</li>
<li>una lettera da parte di un ricercatore/docente che attesti lo stato (studente o neo-laureato) del partecipante;</li>
<li>un preventivo delle spese di viaggio, vitto e alloggio (escluse le spese di iscrizione all&#8217;evento che non sono coperte dal contributo);</li>
<li>l&#8217;importo del contributo richiesto (che non puo&#8217; essere superiore a 600 euro e deve essere minore o uguale al preventivo di spesa).</li>
</ul>
<p>Le domande dei candidati saranno esaminate dalla commissione giudicatrice, composta da:</p>
<ul>
<li>Fabrizio Riguzzi (direttivo AI*IA);</li>
<li>Federico Chesani (comitato organizzatore dell&#8217;evento);</li>
<li>Alessandro Saetti (comitato organizzatore dell&#8217;evento).</li>
</ul>
<p>La commissione, valutati le domande ricevute, provvederà a scegliere gli studenti destinatari del contributo sulla base del seguente ordine di priorità:</p>
<ol>
<li>studenti triennali e specialistici e, fra questi, in base alla media degli esami;</li>
<li>laureati frequentatori;</li>
<li>studenti di dottorato.</li>
</ol>
<p>Gli studenti selezionati avranno tempo due giorni per confermare o meno la loro partecipazione al convegno. Dopo aver partecipato all&#8217;evento, i destinatari dei contributi dovranno spedire copia dell&#8217;attestato di partecipazione e copia delle fatture/scontrini riguardanti le spese sostenute al segretario dell&#8217;associazione AI*IA (<a href="mailto:fabrizio.riguzzi@unife.it">fabrizio.riguzzi@unife.it</a>). Dovranno infine fornire un breve resoconto (in inglese) del&#8217;evento che sarà pubblicato sulla rivista &#8220;Intelligenza Artificiale&#8221;, o su altre riviste analoghe.</p>

Come passa in fretta il tempo, eh? Tra le varie che mi sono arrivate in questi giorni, condivido con voi quella relativa a <a href="http://www.paams.net">PAAMS 2011</a>, la 9th International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. <p><b>SCOPE</b><br />
Research on Agents and Multi-Agent Systems has matured during the last decade and many effective applications of this technology are now deployed. PAAMS provides an international forum to present and discuss the latest scientific developments and their effective applications, to assess the impact of the approach, and to facilitate technology transfer. PAAMS started as a local initiative, but has since grown to become THE international yearly platform to present, to discuss, and to disseminate the latest developments and the most important outcomes related to real-world applications. It provides a unique opportunity to bring multi-disciplinary experts, academics and practitioners together to exchange their experience in the development and deployment of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. PAAMS intends to bring together researchers and developers from industry and the academic world to report on the latest scientific and technical advances on the application of multi-agent systems, to discuss and debate the major issues, and to showcase the latest systems using agent based technology. <p><b>SUBMISSION</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Review process<br />
PAAMS welcomes the submission of application papers with preference to the topics listed in the call for papers. All submitted papers will undergo a thorough review process; each paper will be refereed by at least three experts in the field based on relevance, originality, significance, quality and clarity.</li>
<li>Types of submissions<br />
Regular Paper: They must consist of original, relevant and previously unpublished sound research results related to any of the topics of the conference.<br />
Doctoral Papers: PhD students are invited to present the topic and progress of their research in order to obtain feedback from a panel of experts.</li>
<li>Submitting papers<br />
All papers must be formatted according to the Springer template, with a maximum length of 10 pages in length, including figures and references. All proposed papers must be submitted in electronic form (PDF format) using the Paper Submission Page.</li>
<li>Publication<br />
Accepted papers will be included in PAAMS 2011 Proceedings. At least one of the authors will be required to register and attend the symposium to present the paper in order to include the paper in the conference proceedings. All accepted papers will be published by Springer Verlag in the Advances in Intelligent and Soft Computing.</li>
</ul>
<p>PAAMS is listed in the Computer Science Conference Ranking as one of the top conferences in Artificial Intelligence (Position 52).</p>

<p>La cosa importante e&#8217; che con questo ulteriore sforzo si chiude ufficialmente la mia esperienza con <a href="http://www.wcci2010.org/">WCCI 2010</a> e posso ora iniziare a concentrarmi sugli appuntamenti, ancora piu&#8217; importanti, che mi aspettano per la settimana prossima. L&#8217;aereo che mi riportera&#8217; a Losanna e&#8217; in programma per sabato mattina (ad un orario improponibile). Il tempo di fare un paio di lavatrici e riorganizzarsi un attimo, che lunedi&#8217; (ammesso di trovare un volo, che devo decidermi a cercare) si partira&#8217; alla volta di Noordwijk per il gia&#8217; citato colloquio all&#8217;ESA che avevo menzionato qualche post fa. C&#8217;e&#8217; da preparare una bella presentazione e ragionare in maniera attenta sulla proposta di progetto che mostrero&#8217; una volta la&#8217;. Devo ammettere che, data l&#8217;importanza del colloquio, inizia a salire gia&#8217; da adesso un po&#8217; di tensione. C&#8217;e&#8217; comunque qualche giorno di tempo per cercare di preparare tutto nel migliore dei modi.</p>
<p>Chiudo il post segnalandovi lo splendido posto dove siamo stati a cena questa sera. Trattasi del ristorante <a href="http://www.7portes.com/angles/index.htm">7 Portes</a>, locale discretamente di classe e non troppo a buon prezzo, ma dove servono la paella piu&#8217; deliziosa che abbia mai assaggiato in vita mia. Se passate da Barcelona non avete scuse per non fermarvi a mangiare li&#8217;.</p>
